As an alternative (If you have the will, want, and time) you can also reduce your fresh cherry tomatoes in a sauce pan with some oil, salt, pepper, and sugar. This is a slow process but worth it. Heat your oil, add your tomatoes sliced in half and slowly simmer until liquefied. Add seasonings and let simmer longer for a savory sauce.
